Youth, Teachers' and Parents' Conventions - 2008

The Government of India has identified Swami Vivekananda as the role model for youth and declared his birthday - January 12th as the 'National Youth Day'. To commemorate this occasion and to guide our youth in the light of Swami Vivekananda's message Ramakrishna Mission organises Youth, Teachers' and Parents' Conventions every year. This year these Conventions were held on 5th, 6th and 7th December with 1400 youth, 300 teachers and 400 parents participating respectively.

Swami Atmaghananandaji (Vivekananda College, Chennai) spoke on the Problems and Challegenes facing the youth, teachers and parents in the present age while Swami Suvijneyanandaji (Ramakrishna Math, Pune) dwelt on the need for an all-round education for both career and character building.

Dr.P.Syamasundara Murty (Guntur) and Sri A.Natarajan (Bapatla) also participated and addressed the delegates.

Inaugurating the Youth Convention Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Sri Pradyumna, IAS said that Education, Status and Money alone will not give man peace and happiness - he needs to cultivate spirituality as taught by Swami Vivekananda for real success and lasting peace.

Swami Sashikantanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Vijayawada said that students, teachers, parents and management are all members of a relay team and only when each one of them performs well can the student succeed in getting real education.
